On the afternoon of September 1st, the 2024 freshman orientation ceremony for MBA/MPA students of Shanghai University of Engineering Science was held at the Comprehensive Building on Changning Campus. The ceremony was attended by SUES President Yu Tao, Deputy Secretary of the CPC SUES Committee Shi Jianyong, and Vice President Wang Yansong. President of China Europe International Business School and Chairman of the SUES MBA/MPA Expert Committee, Wang Hong, was present to provide guidance. Chairman of Shanghai Shengjun Enterprise Group, Huang Wenping, was also invited to participate. Representatives from the faculty were present, along with 186 new MBA/MPA students, to jointly inaugurate the new academic year. The ceremony was presided over by Deputy Secretary Shi Jianyong.
President Yu Tao welcomed the new students and expressed several hopes: First, to adopt Diligence, Veritas, Innovation, and Dedication as convictions and action guidelines, striving for excellence. Second, to internalize SUES platform resources and achievements as advantages for overcoming challenges and looking further. Third, to integrate the program training goals with individual growth objectives, combining theoretical knowledge with management practice, studying diligently, thinking deeply, and persisting in practice.
President Wang Hong affirmed the development of the MBA/MPA programs and encouraged the new students, who are in an era full of changes, to actively pay attention to development trends, improve learning and critical thinking skills, and use their knowledge to promote the development of social productivity. They should also be proactive in innovation, further enhancing critical and digital thinking. Lastly, they should maintain their convictions, seize opportunities, and unleash their potential in the tide of development and change to achieve excellent results.
Deputy Secretary Shi Jianyong, in his hosting remarks, stated that MBA/MPA freshmen should break the boundaries of classrooms, knowledge, and resources, and focus on learning. He wished the new students outstanding achievements in the future and added new glory to SUES.
Vice President Wang Yansong awarded the SUES MBA/MPA flag, symbolizing responsibility and mission, to student representatives, signifying the gathering of sparks and the continuation of tradition.
Dean of the School of Management Studies and Director of the MBA/MPA Education Center, Hu Bin, introduced the development and latest progress of the School of Management Studies and the MBA/MPA program, encouraging new students to utilize SUES learning resources to achieve self-transcendence.
The representative of corporate mentors, Chairman of Shanghai Shengjun Enterprise Group, Huang Wenping, encouraged new students to seize the learning and communication platform to enhance their strategic vision, innovative thinking, management capabilities, and leadership.
The representative of SUES mentors, Deputy Dean of School of Management Studies, Xia Zhijie, hoped that new students would quickly adapt to their new identity, focus on learning and research, actively participate in social practice, and continuously improve their innovation and management literacy.
The new student representative, Lin Lin, shared her feelings about joining the University, expressing her honor in becoming a member of SUES, and her commitment to continuous learning, exploration, and self-discipline.
