On the afternoon of June 26, 2026, the School of Management's Distinguished Foreign Expert Lecture Series was held in Room 911 of the Administration Building. This lecture invited Associate Professor Sangcheol Song from the Department of Management at Saint Joseph's University to deliver a keynote report titled “Multinational Operations and Management Research and Topic Selection for International Journal Papers”. Faculty members, graduate students, and undergraduate students from the school attended the lecture and engaged in discussions with Professor Song.

Professor Song holds a Ph.D. in International Business from The Ohio State University. His primary research areas include international business and strategic management. At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Song first explored the balance between “interestingness” and “significance” in academic research, and then reviewed current hot research directions in the SSCI field. Drawing on his own publication experience, Professor Song systematically explained the key points at each stage of SSCI paper writing—from topic selection strategies and writing standards to submission techniques—and provided targeted practical suggestions for the faculty and students present.
Professor Song also used his current working paper, “When/why are overseas subsidiaries in unfavorable external conditions kept longer? The Multinational Operational Flexibility View”, as an example to elaborate in detail on the paper's research motivation, theoretical approach, research contributions, and findings. He also discussed research methods, international comparisons, and other issues with the faculty and students.

In the final Q&A session, Professor Song engaged in thorough exchanges and discussions with teachers and students, patiently answering their questions. Attendees expressed that they benefited greatly from this lecture regarding multinational corporate strategy and SSCI paper writing.
The successful hosting of this Distinguished Foreign Expert Lecture not only provided faculty and graduate students of the School of Management with an international learning and exchange platform, but also further promoted academic research in corporate finance and strategic management, as well as the writing and publication of high-level international papers.
